Sake tasting events where you go around and taste several brews from each kura are always fun. Just like everyone else at these events, besides being a bit tipsy, I tend to carry a lot of stuff with both hands completely full. A back pack with my stuff, a small a bag for my camera hanging from one shoulder, a binder to place a list of sake appearing at the event, and a pen in one hand, then, finally, a glass. If I had to reach a water bottle either in my bag or back pack, it always presented a problem.
The other day at Fukui Jizake Ajiwai-no-Kai, they had this perfect give away for sake event goers. A strap that lets a small 500 ml plastic bottle hang around the neck, just like your office ID. While I am sure this water bottle strap around my neck made me look extra dorky, I thought this was just the perfect gadget and a real keeper.

To make it even better, the red stap has all 19 breweries’ name on it!

Ha! It’s true, every sake drinker needs one of those.
It was so good traveling to Shizuoka together on Wednesday! Thanks for all your planning. Next time, we definitely need to take the guys along. Looking forward to Monday’s tasting.
Talk soon,
Melinda
